The Koi Boys
New Zealand born, Gold Coast based The Koi Boys’ debut album Meant To Be is out now. Meant To Be is a collection of nine genre spanning covers and three original songs written by the trio. Available today, the second single lifted from the album is the smooth, Latin rendition of Drake’s “Hotline Bling”.
Made up of Danny Faifai, Kevin Keepa and Ngahere “Nuz” Ngatai, the hard-working Koi Boys have been busy performing at local and global events such as the Singapore Formula 1, Brisbane’s River Fire and next month’s Melbourne Cup. For almost a decade, they have continued to croon, dance and entertain at their popular “Sunday Session” at a Gold Coast venue. Ranging from Motown classics through to current pop hits at Koi Dining and Lounge Bar, the live session has become so popular that still to this day shows sell out weeks in advance.
Working with producer Robert Conley (Montaigne, Tina Arena, The Delta Riggs, Darren Hayes, Thelma Plum) Meant To Be ticks off Motown, funk, RnB, pop, cabaret with covers such as The Weeknd’s “The Hills” and “Sh-Boom (Life Could Be a Dream)” and original works “Yes”, a sweet love song written by Kevin and “Angels Have to Fly”, a stunning reggae track written by Nuz after his cousin died from epilepsy.
