Vera Blue at Splendour – Not Once, Twice, but Three Times.

Splendour in the Grass, every year, has a few truly special moments, and on her first appearance at the festival, Vera Blue managed to be a part of two of the most iconic moments of SITG2016.

Day One saw her come on stage with Illy to sing their massively popular track, ‘Papercuts,’ which, according to musicfeeds, “provid(ed) Splendour with one of its first truly triumphant moments.”

Featuring in Slumberjack’s set, Vera Blue tried out a new track that she and the pair of producers have been working on.

And, in a secret barn somewhere near Byron, Vera Blue, amongst the other guests, rehearsed with the young legend, Flume, for what would become the biggest and most memorable set of the entire festival.

Stepping in for Kai, Vera Blue dominated her performance of the enormous lead single from Flume’s second album, Skin, ‘Never Be Like You,’ delivering an emotional rendition of the song to an audience of 20,000 fans.

Nathan Hawes ‘I Wasn’t There’ EP Out Now!

18 year old Nathan Hawes’ brand new 5 track EP, I Wasn’t There, was released last month on Friday February 12th. This new material has peaked at number #5 on the iTunes charts, and can be found online at: itunes.apple.com/au/artist/nathan-hawes/id950346530

Producer Jan Skubiszewski (Jackson Jackson, Way of the Eagle, Dan Sultan), has captured Hawes’ vision for I Wasn’t There, featuring the beautiful complexities of the guitar melodies and the singers’ smooth vocals, and embellished them with slide guitar, synths and organ. The pair have continued to work together on some of Nathan’s new material, which lucky audiences members received a taste of during his national tour during January and February this year.

The young singer-songwriter describes his songwriting process saying, “I don’t make a set time to sit down and write new songs, it just happens as a result of something happening in your life. You write it down and it evolves into a song. It’s such a strange process releasing new music to everyone, not knowing what they’re going to think about it.”

With an impressive social media presence, Hawes’ boasts 62k+ followers on Facebook, 125k+ on Instagram, and his YouTube covers combined have in excess of 400,000 views, we are likely to be seeing more of the teen soon.
